Add the perfect toner to your skincare routine
The first step in skin care is CTM – Cleansing, Toning, Moisturizing. It is possible to get healthy and beautiful skin only if you follow these three steps. But usually, our skincare is limited to cleansing and moisturizing. The toning step is skipped by more or less everyone. But toning is an important step to getting healthy, smooth skin. Many people do not know about their skin. So many people get confused about which toner to choose after knowing the skin type. I will try to clear up these confusions in today's article.
What is toner?
A toner is a water-based skin care product. After cleansing, toner is used as the next step. Used to exfoliate the skin, deeply cleanse, hydrate, and prepare skin for the next steps.
Simply put, toner looks like water. Again, its work is just like water. But do not mistake it for water! The main elements of water are hydrogen and oxygen. The type of toner depends on the acid, glycerin, and other elements it contains. The toner also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Toners help restore hydration to the skin's surface in a short time. Toners are just as important as serums and moisturizers in a skincare routine.
Why use toner?
Our skin is naturally slightly acidic. Nowadays maximum cleansing products are pH balanced. But even after using these cleansing products, it takes some time for our skin to return to its natural pH level. And usually, we don't wait for this time. Before that, apply the following skincare product such as moisturizer, and serum on the skin. As a result, our skin cannot reap the benefits of Next Skin Care products. The toner then helps to hydrate the skin, and balance the skin's pH level for the next skincare product application.
Know your skin ---
I know that it is important to use toner to get healthy skin. But do all skin types have to use the same type of toner? Not at all! To use a toner, you must first know about your skin.
How do you know what kind of skin you have?
There is a very simple method to understand what your skin type is. That is - wake up, clean your face and wait for an hour without using any kind of product. Now cut tissue into pieces. Now press the tissue pieces on the forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. If all the pieces of tissue stick to the face, it should be understood as skin oil. If all the pieces of tissue fall, the skin is dry, and if the pieces stick to the forehead, nose, and chin, i.e. T zone, then the skin type should be understood as a combination. Those whose skin reacts minimally i.e. problems like itching, rash, and redness are seen then it is sensitive skin. Sensitive but not any skin type. It is a skin condition.
What type of toner to choose according to skin type?
Although an essential item in skin care, not all skin types can use the same toner. Find out which toner is suitable for your skin-
For dry skin
A hydrating and moisturizing type of toner should be chosen for dry skin. A toner rich in peptides, glycolipids, rose hips seed oil or jojoba oil should be used. Avoid using toners that contain alcohol, sodium, or ammonium lauryl sulfate (a fat molecule found in coconut or palm kernels).
For oily skin
If the skin is oily, then you should use a toner that gives a refreshing feel to the face. Before buying toners, check if they contain oil-free ingredients such as sodium hyaluronate, sodium PCA, and AHAs. Don't use toners that contain alcohol or sulfates. Because such toners make the skin more oily.
For combination skin
If you have this type of skin, you have to choose two types of toners. One for summer and the other for winter. Oil-free refreshing toner should be used in summer, and hydrating toner should be chosen in winter. There are many toners that suit all skin types. Such toners are the best option if you have combination skin.
For sensitive skin
If you have sensitive skin, use alcohol and acid-free toner. Before buying, check whether the toner is rich in beta-glucan, white tea extract, and glycerin.
Things to keep in mind while buying toner ----
1) Reading the ingredients of the toner
Read the level carefully when buying toner. Then you will know what ingredients the toner is made of. You can choose the toner according to your skin type.
2) Don't buy toners with harsh ingredients
Avoid buying toners that contain alcohol, menthol, or hazel, regardless of skin type.
3) Do not buy toners with strong fragrances
Avoid buying toners with artificial fragrances. This type of toner can cause skin irritation.
4) Buy toner from an authentic shop
Choose an authentic shop to buy toner. And before purchasing toner, read the level carefully. Avoid buying toners that contain ingredients that can irritate the skin.
How to use toner by knowing your skin type ---
1) Clean the skin thoroughly with a cleanser according to the skin type.
2) Take a few drops of toner on a cotton pad and gently apply it all over the face.
3) Toner can also be used by hand. In this case, care should be taken to keep the hands completely clean. Otherwise, the dirt or germs from the hands can stick to the face and create many problems on the skin.
4) Toners are now available in spray bottles in the market. They are easier to use. Spray 2-3 times after cleaning the skin. After 30-40 seconds of using toner, apply the next step of skin care such as serum and moisturizer.
